As soon as the door opened, I saw Meeka the Gordon Setter, and my heart stepped sideways. Meeka was completely ready for her Pet Photo Shoot. She immediately gave me a gentle wet kiss. It was so hard for me to get back to my feet, and remember who I was and why I was there. After speaking with her hooman, I understood how they found each other. As is often the case, pets are a mirror to their owners, and Meeka was no exception. Her mum is a dancer, very elegant and graceful.

Watching them together made my day, and I had to capture beautiful photographs of them together. They moved in harmony. They kept eye contact constantly, making it easy for me to get some amazing dog photography. I love witnessing such a beautiful connection, and feel really lucky to be invited to capture pet photography for people who love their pets as much as I do. Now you know why Meeka, the Gordon Setter, has gorgeous photos with her mum.

A lot of people ask us if they can be in the photos with their pets? We encourage the whole household to join in! We aim to capture the bond between people and their animals. Since you are a huge part of your pet’s life, capturing you having fun together or cuddling is very meaningful. Back in the day, I specialised in people photography, so I know how to get everyones best angle and how to take photos you will love. If you choose not to be in the photos, I may still ask you to assist, even if it’s just incorporating your hands to embrace him/her.

Firstly, what is your favourite thing about Meeka?

Definitely her aristocratic elegance! She doesn’t run or walk, she glides. I love how her feathers stream behind her when she runs.

What makes yours so special?

Meeka is perceptive and so loyal. She seems to know if I’ve had a bad day, and cheers me up by gently placing her precious but very smelly teddy bear on my lap.

Tell us something about Meeka that will make us laugh? 

Meeka has at least 50 assorted bandanas, leads and collars. She even has a pearl doggy necklace for special occasions!
