Alfie the Border Collie was a delight to photograph. He was so obliging, cooperating with every idea that came. My pet photography subjects are not normally as well behaved, though they are always willing to have fun. I think that’s why I love being a pet photographer – the challenge of getting great photos of any type of pet personality.
The brief was to have the pet photography session on the beach, capturing family photos and Alfie the Border Collies huge personality. And what a personality he was <3. Alfie LOVED the camera, and did everything he could to make sure everyone’s eyes stayed on him. Barking for the ball, pawing for a treat, dancing for adoration, he was very very good at it. Border Collies are as smart as they come. Smartest in fact, with the perfect supply of energy and enthusiasm. Luckily, Alfie’s parents make sure he gets plenty of exercise and stimulation to keep him happy.
Early morning, just as the sun is rising, is my favourite time for dog photography at the beach! Everything and everyone is fresh, the light is soft, and welcoming. It’s truly magical! Firstly, what is your favourite thing about Alfie?
His beautiful cuddly personality, his energetic nature and how he boops us to walk him or feed him. He is just a big baby in a big dogs body.
We know every fur baby is unique, & in your totally unbiased opinion have the best pet ever!
What makes yours so special?
Alfie is a cheeky, clever and funny dog. Honestly has the personality of a human. He is so special and beautiful.
Tell us something about Alfie that will make us laugh?
Well, where do I start? I will be sitting on the couch and he will try and be sneaky by going to the toilet grabbing the toilet roll and then slowly walk past me with it in his mouth without trying to be seen.
He also enjoys jumping up on the bed each morning and luring directly on our faces.
Why is having beautiful imagery of your pets important to you?
Memory’s. He is a big part of our life and we love him so much that we want his face everywhere 🙂

Border collies are according to the internet the most intelligent dogs in the world , but I came across an article on the net that said one man in America trained his dog to understand 1000 words time this sounded very bizzaire but could have been possiblely achieved if the training was started at a young age !
I have a border collie from a working farm in Scotland very intelligent dog very aware of many things !
Thank you for sharing the photos of Alfie. My border collie Archie had to be put down in June and seeing the pics of Alfie has helped me release my grief. Best of all though I can see now that I could love another dog and oh yes it will have to be another border collie. They are wonderful dogs. Thank you.
Fantastic dogs. I have had 6 over the years. Red/White. Black/White. now a most beautiful Tri col chocolate merle with one Blue eye and one Brown eye. All long coated. I trained to obedience and were perfect. They need the minimum training as long as you are firm and realise they watch your face and hands as well as listen to your voice. Need lots of intereaction with their owners. Devoted and loving. Only have one if you are prepared to give them the stimulation and exercise they require.
Wow Alfie is so beautiful We had to say a heartbreaking goodbye to our Beautiful boy Spike 5 weeks ago who gave us 16 years of put and loyal companionship so much love He was one of my boys. So funny, intelligent obedient and my a huge part of our family. Grief is overwhelming bit we have his ashes home with us in his corner forever and will give a border collie a forever home when the right one comes along xx
I had a couple border collies and loved them! My last SuzieQ passed a year ago nov. The pain was so terrific it took till now to get my new puppy, of course black and white border collie. I’m so excited to have my last journey with Daisy.
I started A feline lover, until I was introduced to a Border Collie with 3 legs named Guy. Followed by BC ‘s Piccolo, and Loco. I have been blessed that my BC’s have long lives with me.
We had a Border Collie (here in America) who easily understood everything we said. And if we used a word she didn’t know, she had a way of asking us to explain it.
She also understood concepts. We were on a walk and she was pulling at the leash, stopping to smell everything. Basically breaking all the rules. I didn’t feel good and I said, “Suzy, the next time we go for a walk, we are going to work on heeling”. She looked at me, decided I was annoyed but not mad and continued to pull & drag at the leash.
I caught a cold or flu & we didn’t go for a walk for over a week (big yard and hubby & sons walked her too).
Then, on our next walk, we were over a mile in when I realize, Suzy was heeling perfectly. She was so happy when I noticed. I got lots of positive reinforcement for being a good human 😉
I’m so sorry for your loss. Seeing the pictures of Alfie brought back cherished memories of our girl Suzy. We had to put her down in 2016 and sadly after we moved the new house doesn’t permit dogs. But we’re all in agreement. Our next dog will be a border collie.
Sorry for your loss, for 41 years we had rescue dogs who were well loved.then we decided on a puppy, and found Megan amongst all her siblings.she was different ,smart,
and I swear she could read my mind,I have never had such a tight bond with any dog,she loved to put her head on my chest,.she studied my routines, and didn’t miss a trick, did everything that was asked of her.she became
Tied to me months before she became sick, then collapsed,Vet arrived and told us she was bleeding inside she had a large growth,! We were taken in to say goodbye, what broke my heart was she staggered to the door whined ,turned round to ask to go home,.She sleeps beside my bed and I talk to her every morning and night.Ive never known such pain in my life, she was my best friend. She was only 10. I have my boy left now,but no more Borders.

My border collie Molly was with me for over 15 years until 6 weeks ago. She was my friend and took great care of me. She was so smart and so much fun. I will never forget her, my sweet Molly.
My border collie, Tigger, is truly my best friend (my husband is aware of this and is ok with it). He is the third border collie I have had in my life and each one has been unique but all have been incredibly smart and loving Tigger is 12 years old and cannot imagine what it will be like when he is no longer in my life.
I had the best Border Collie named Molly. She was with me through thick and thin when my Husband Passed away. She consoled me all the time when I need it so badly. When she passed away, 8 years later, I have her ashes in my living room. She still stays with me, even though she is at the Rainbow Bridge. She was my best girl.💋❤️🧑🏼💻🇺🇸🇺🇦
