Zeus is well known across Applecross, a real doggie socialite. As a frequent patron of the coffee shops he has used his 8 years well, and is an expert at getting any animal lovers attention.
As Zues’s photo session was held just before Christmas last year we were lucky to have the Jacaranda tree’s in full bloom. Starting early for the soft light, Zues was such a good boy, and a superb example of an Alaskan Malamute. His silky soft fur, in addition to his engulfing cuddles, made it easy to forget that I had a job to do. I love how these images capture his confident personality and the sweet bond that he shares with his hoomans.
Phil, his dad, started a bit of a craze by putting up lights on his verge trees. After first helping a few other elderly neighbours do the same, it wasn’t long before the whole street joined in. Photographers, newspapers, and even channel 9, all scrambled for this good news story. Naturally I couldn’t miss out either, so we decided I would come back in the evening to capture the beauty of the night lights. It was a great way to get the street together and commemorate some of the beauty that 2020 brought.
