It was my second time photographing at this home, but my first time meeting Obi Rouge the cavoodle. He had big paws to fill, and that he did. Obi Rouge loved food, but didn’t need it as a bribe. He took a great deal of pride in fulfilling requests. Affection was his favourite type of reward.

Obi Rouge’s human parents were eventually persuaded to jump in a few pet photos. Many people don’t want to be in the photos, saying that their pets are better looking. But I truly believe including besotted owners with their pets adds a beautiful element. After all, we are their life. Including all elements allows us as pet photographers to capture all parts of their personality.

A dog like Obi Rouge is more the exception than the rule. Most of my doggy clients have more energy and are less focused on being super stars (my own crazy cavoodle included!). That doesn’t mean we don’t get great shots every pet photography session though. It just means we work a bit harder and smarter.
